F1 journalist confirms nyck de Vries has been FIRED.
Allard Kalff, commentator and close friend of the de Vries family tweeted that Nyck de Vries will no longer be racing with AlphaTauri for the rest of the season. There have been several reports from Dutch media that De Vries drove his last race for Red Bull’s sister team at Silverstone. It has been reported by Erik van Haren and Chris Medland that the replacement for de Vries would be Daniel Ricciardo.
At the time of writing this, there is currently no official statement made by AlphaTauri or Nyck de Vries just yet to confirm this announcement.
The most recent example was Pierre Gasly being dropped during the 2020 summer break from the senior Red Bull outfit and switching places with Alex Albon who was in his rookie year with Toro Rosso.
Previously, Max Verstappen had been the beneficiary of a switcheroo between the two Red Bull sponsored teams. The statement comes out after a series of poor results from the rookie driver. Helmut Marko, the advisor for Red Bull has stated how he had given the Dutchman an ultimatum and if his performances did not improve he would be swapped during the summer break. This ultimatum came out back in May before the Monaco Grand Prix and since then there has been no wonder regarding what would happen with the driver.
