Ex-testing officer who used fake matric certificate to get job fined R60 000.. 




A former licence testing officer has been found guilty of fraud and forgery after she used a fake matric certificate to secure employment.


The Kimberley Commercial Crimes Court sentenced 41-year-old Patricia Staffa to a fine of R60 000 or three years imprisonment as well as two years which wholly suspended for five years.



Staffa was employed at the Traffic Unit of Siyathemba Local Municipality between September 2016 and June 2018, a job she got with a fake matric certificate.


Northern Cape Police spokesperson Captain Tebogo Thebe said the municipality lost an estimated R500 000 to the fraud.
