“A UN-appointed team of investigators is still struggling for access to atrocity sites in Tigray and elsewhere. In a statement today, it hopes for “unhindered access without delay, so that it may visit sites and speak freely and privately with survivors, witnesses, and others.

“In meetings last week in Addis Ababa, the investigation team said it “reiterated its requests for access to areas relevant for its investigation.” But no indication of a decision by Ethiopian government.

The investigation was announced by the UN Human Rights Council last December. It only has a one-year mandate, yet it still hasn’t yet gained access to key sites. The Ethiopian government opposed the creation of the investigation and tried to block its funding.

“The UN investigators had earlier asked for evidence to be submitted online at this site: https://t.co/QQIs4P8mGF
