In Ghana, eight high school students who were expelled for insulting President Nana Akufo-Addo in a viral video have apologised and asked to be allowed back to school.
“I am here with my colleagues on our knees to beg the president, the headmaster, the education office and our fellow Ghanaians. We are sorry for our videos that went viral. We did not mean for it to go viral, it was a childish play, we are sorry and on our knees that the President should call us back,” one of them said.
An opposition MP said the decision to dismiss them was harsh.
They took on social media to castigate the president about the absence of free education and other ills.
