Drake paid the “Money In The Grave” producer Lil CC $20K……
Recently, Lil CC hopped on Shirley Ju’s show Shirley’s Temple to reveal the actual dollar amount she received for Drake’s “Money In The Grave” featuring Rick Ross. The song took on a life of its own, with even Drizzy using it as the official anthem for his home team Toronto Raptors winning the NBA Championships back in 2019.
“Man, it was crazy,” she said. “I was like, ‘I fuck with this man.’ I was just like, ‘wow,’ knowing that someone believed in me that much, and supported what I did, it made me want to go even harder.”
She went on to explain that she specifically listened for the Rick Ross feature on the song because she’s a big fan, and that this feature went on to launch her work with other artists like Lil Wayne.
Originally released in 2019, “Money in the Grave” was originally part of a two-pack of songs that Drake dropped to celebrate the Toronto Raptors becoming the NBA Champions that year.
The first song in the pack was titled “Omertá” — which is Italian for “honor” and is used in organized crime circles to indicate protecting one’s fellow co-conspirators — appeared to be written around the same time as it was dropped. Throughout the track, he talked about his upcoming Las Vegas residency, his status on Forbes Cash Kings List and Pusha T’s “The Story Of Adidon” diss track.
When asked what Lil CC’s first placement was, the Los Angeles native responds, “My first beat was ‘Money In The Grave,’ so it was $20K. It was crazy. Man, I fuck with this. Wow, knowing that somebody believed in me that much and supported what I did, it made me want to go even harder.”
