A Jos upper area court on Wednesday had dissolved the marriage between Maryam Adam and Mustapha Adam.
Maryam Adam, a resident of Gangere area in Jos North filed for divorce on the grounds that her husband is psychologically unstable and he doesn’t take care of her and her 10months old baby.
Maryam’s husband, who is a tricycle rider(kekenapep) has been accused of not taking care of his family and also for being psychologically unstable. Maryam told the court that divorce filed on these grounds under the islamic belief are permissible, “if partners are not more in love and live together”.
On the resumption on the hearing, the judge, Malam Lawal dissolved the marriage in court and asked Maryam to return the 60,000naira dowry fees.
