Craig Martin has joined Chippa United from Orlando Pirates.
His arrival in Orlando in the January transfer window on a two-and-a-half-year contract was accompanied with great promise but alas, fate had a different path in mind for the 29-year-old.
The Buccaneers had long admired Martin’s swift and agile prowess, recognizing the untamed potential residing within him.
Martin failed to impress under Jose Riveiro’s tutelage as he was only used on six occasions at the Buccaneers in six months.
Martin is Chippa’s first signing ahead of the 2023/24 football calendar set to start in August. In a press release the club said Martin has signed a “two-year contract with an option to extend an additional year”.
Martin was released by Pirates last week having only signed for the Buccaneers from City in January.
He played just six league and cup games — five in the DStv Premiership — at Bucs in the second half of the 2022-23 season.
