CLAP FOR JESUS: Ugandan church, Phaneroo Ministries, set to break Guinness world record for the longest applause

Phaneroo Ministries International, a prominent Ugandan church, has set its sights on making history by attempting to break the existing Guinness World Record for the longest round of applause.

Pastor Rohi Bright, speaking to journalists at Phaneroo Ministries International’s head office in Kampala, shared that this applause session is not only about setting a new record but also a way to express gratitude to God for their 9-year milestone as a ministry. The founder, Apostle Grace Lubega, along with the ministry’s team, is enthusiastic about breaking the world record, and their ultimate intention is to honour the name of their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The Guinness world attempt, Mutebi says will be streamed on their YouTube and on the church’s Manifest TV. In May this year, Nigerian chef Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci set a world record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual by cooking for a total of 93 hours and 11 minutes in May 2023. Her triumph however, set off a chain reaction of other people in her country and elsewhere, making their own attempts at different records, including one Adedamilola ‘Chef Dammy’ Adeparusi, who announced that she would attempt to cook for 120 hours to break Baci’s record.

The session has been aptly named “Clap for Jesus,” reflecting the church’s devotion and enthusiasm for their remarkable endeavor.

Currently, the title for the longest applause is held by Stevens Clark, who accomplished the feat during the Festival of Awesomeness in the UK on July 20, 2019.

Clark’s record stands at an impressive two hours and five minutes of continuous applause, an achievement that remains unchallenged to this day. Beyond the excitement of breaking a world record, the hand-clapping session holds special significance for the church as it coincides with their approaching ninth anniversary, set to be celebrated on August 5, 2023. The applause will serve as a unique and heartfelt way for the congregation to express their gratitude to God for the incredible journey they have undertaken so far.
