Ciara began trending on Twitter in the early hours of Friday, just hours after her husband Russell Wilson took the blame for the Denver Broncos’ 12-9 overtime loss against the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday night, with people saying she should consider getting back with her ex, Future. Wilson received a heap of backlash from fans after the NFL star missed a wide-open in what would have been the game-winning touchdown to secure the team’s win.
In an official transcript following the match, Wilson said, “It’s very simple. At the end of the day, I have to be better. I have to play better […] At the end of the day, throwing two interceptions can’t happen. Can’t happen. I let the team down tonight.” And while Wilson took the team’s loss on his shoulders with grace, admitting that he could’ve played better, Twitter went into savage mode and had Ciara trending, saying she needed to leave her partner.
“Ciara should give Future another chance,” one person wrote, whose tweet amassed over 60,000 likes. Another person used a photo of Future staring at his phone, jokingly implying he was sending a text to Ciara, which read, “Didn’t know you would leave me for a man who can’t finish. I hope that sex isn’t as dry as this game was. You don’t have to respond just wanted to let you know I’m here for you.”
