CAUSE OF DEATH: Vocalist, Mean Pete Kowalsky, has died after battle with colon cancer.

Sad news has come in that “Mean Pete” Kowalsky, known for his work in Remembering Never, Ether Coven and more, has passed away. In early 2020, the metalcore/hardcore vocalist was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. He spent the next few years undergoing surgery and treatment for the disease, experiencing ups and downs, even managing to take to the stage at the 2021 ‘Furnace Fest‘ in Birmingham, AL. Unfortunately however, his cancer returned.

Zao revealed Kowalsky‘s passing, sharing the below tribute on their social media tonight, July 10th:

“Absolutely shocked to hear about the passing of “Mean Pete” Kowalsky. We shared many great times on the road (and almost shared more). Any time around him was a good time and the world was a better place with him in it.”

Last year, Mean Pete contributed a “Six Songs To Die With” for Lambgoat, and later committed to doing more with us. He had even filmed a record shopping video that is slated for release here in the near future. It is currently in editing and will be released on the site soon.

The last piece of writing we have from Pete was a contribution to our Quarter 1 Top Albums earlier this year. We had plans to work with Pete in the future as a columnist and content contributor, but his illness returned, and he was unable to contribute further. Our hearts go out to Pete’s family and friends.
