Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Colombian composer, Omar Geles, has passed away after suffering from cardiorespiratory arrest.
On the night of Tuesday, May 21, 2024, it was learned that the renowned Vallenato composer Omar Geles, 57, was admitted to the Erasmo Clinic in Valledupar due to cardiorespiratory arrest, which, according to confirmation from the family and the clinic, would have caused his death, and that it would have occurred at the time when he was playing paddle tennis.
Among the singers who confirmed it is the vallenato artist and son of Diomedes Díaz, Elder Dayán , who in his , another of the artists related to the vallenato genre who lamented the death of the composer was the accordion player Rolando Ochoa who said: “There are no words, we are all beaten, on Saturday we were there in Bogotá.”
The composer’s last appearance on stage was recorded on the night of Saturday, May 18, 2024, when he accompanied one of his great friends, Silvestre Dangond, at the El Campín stadium in Bogotá.
That night, in front of more than 10,000 people, the presence of the composer was a surprise for the urumitero who was preparing to perform A Blanco y negro , a composition by Geles, when, without realizing it, he found himself surrounded by the singers of the new wave from vallenato Diego Daza, Elder Dayán, Karen Lizarazo, Rafa Pérez, Churo Díaz and Gusi.
