Regarded as the Prince of Funk, pioneer of the style in Rio de Janeiro and exponent of the melody, romantic side, MC Marcinho died this Saturday (27th), as a result of heart problems that had left him hospitalized since June 27th. Singer and composer, famous for the hits “Rap do Solitário”, “Princesa”, “Glamurosa” and “Garota nota 100”, Márcio André Nepomuceno was born in Duque de Caxias in 1977, the son of a samba singer, and raised in Bangu, in the West Zone of Rio.


The information was confirmed by Rede D’Or, in a note signed by Marcelo London, medical director of Copa D’Or: “The Hospital Copa D’Or confirms with regret the death of patient Marcio André Nepomuceno Garcia this Saturday morning (26) , at 9:10 am, due to multiple organ failure. The hospital sympathizes with family and friends for this irreparable loss”.


In 1998, Marcinho released his first solo CD, “Sempre Solitário”, which included the song “Garota nota 100”, produced by Marlboro. The following year, he released “Valeu shock”, also produced by the DJ, who suffered from the retraction of space for romantic funk, but the song “Motivos da vida” broke out.
