Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Actor, Mark Margolis, has passed away after battle with short illness.
Mark Margolis was 83 years old. Margolis’ son announced that his father had died on Thursday at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City, Variety reported. Publicist Henry Eshelman said that Margolis’ wife and son were at his bedside when he died after a short illness, WPVI reported.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Margolis of Far Rockway, New York – wed in New York City, they were married for 61 years — and only child Morgan Margolis, his wife Heide Margolis, and their three sons Ben, Aidan, and Henry Margolis, all of Los Angeles. He is also survived by his brother and his wife, Jerome and Ann Margolis.
The family plans to have a private memorial and funeral. While current fans may know him best as Hector Salamanca in “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul” he also had roles in “Snowpiercer” “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2″ and “Scarface,” according to his IMDB profile.
He frequently appeared in movies made by Darren Aronofsky starting with 1998′s “PI,” and finally in 2014′s “Noah,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Philadelphia native, who began his small-screen career with a role on Guiding Light, went on to appear in dozens of major TV series. In addition to Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, Margolis also left his mark on shows like the original Equalizer, Santa Barbara, Law & Order, Oz, Ed, Californication, Blue Bloods, The Good Wife, American Horror Story and The Affair.
His final TV credit came courtesy of Showtime’s Your Honor, on which he recurred as Carmine Conti, reuniting him with Breaking Bad‘s Bryan Cranston.
Margolis also had a successful film career. Best known on the big screen for playing Alberto the Shadow in Scarface, he also appeared in major movies like Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Thomas Crown Affair, Requiem for a Dream and Black Swan.
