Noted artist of Nepali cinema, BS Rana, passed away this morning. He was 79. Rana breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital this morning, writer and artist Ghanashyam Khatiwada said. 




Rana who resided in the United Kingdom for around 30 years had also made his acting performances in the dramas penned by world-renowned playwright William Shakespeare. Making debut in Nepali cinema in 2041 BS, he had performed in dozens of feature films including Dakchhina, Koseli, Chino, Dui Thopa Aanshu, Nepali Babu, Karodpati, Darpan Chhayan-2, Seto Bagh and Basanti. A permanent resident of Budhanilakantha, Kathmandu, he has been living in Bhainsepati of Lalitpur of late. He is survived by spouse and three daughters. His son had passed away some years ago.



Kathmandu. Late actor BS Rana’s wife and daughter were rescued from Goldhanga and admitted to a hospital for treatment at the initiative of some filmmakers, including actor Savin Shrestha. An organization named Nepal Snehi Kakh rescued him on Monday evening and kept him in the mental hospital at Satdobato. This institution will also give them shelter.


After Rana’s death, actor of popular films like Basanti, Sabaria, his Honey Rana and his younger daughter Aarti had mental problems. Wife depression and daughter were battling depression since childhood. Filmmakers took an interest in it after a video was published on TikTok about the pathetic condition of the family, who were barely making ends meet.
