The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the extension of lockdown for another two weeks, especially in states with high number of COVID-19 cases(In Kano State to be precised). 


This was made known by the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF. Boss Mustapha during the daily briefing of the Task Force. 







SGF. Boss Mustapha said: “The reality is that in spite of the modest progress made, Nigeria is not yet ready for full opening of the economy and tough decisions have to be taken for the good of the greater majority. Any relaxation will only portend grave danger for our populace”. 











He continued: “Advisedly, the current phase of eased restriction will be maintained for another two week during which stricter enforcement and persuasion measures will be pursued”. 


He added: “The two weeks extension of phase one of the eased restriction is also to enable other segments of the economy to prepare adequately for compliance with the guidelines, preparatory to reopening in the coming weeks”. 


The new lockdown order will be effective from 12:00 midnight on Monday, May 18 till 1st June, 2020. Kano State will be on a total lockdown for another two weeks.
