More & more Scandinavian retail chains are removing Mondelez products (Oreo, Jell-O, Milka, Toblerone, Marabou etc) from their shelves.
This text says “Mondelez contributes with taxes to russia’s invasion. That’s why we have removed their products from our assortment”
Mondelez owns the brands Freia, Toblerone and Daim, among others. It has three factories in Russia, and Ukraine accuses the company of contributing to the aggressor’s army by paying taxes to the Russian budget.
Quote: “We are removing the [Mondelez] products from our assortment and replacing them,” SAS representative Tonje Sund told the newspaper on Thursday afternoon.
Mondelez commented on the airline’s move, calling it “shameful”.
Quote: “We consider it a shame that SAS made such a decision, but of course our customers decide for themselves what products they want to sell,” the Mondelez press service said in an email to the newspaper.
Although it has condemned the invasion of Ukraine and suspended new investments and advertising in Russia, the company has refused to stop selling its products in the country.
“[Mondelez International] complies with all political decisions and sanctions and will continue to consider necessary adjustments to operations in order to ensure full compliance,” it said in a statement.
