A longtime Fox News producer was let go after management found him responsible for the on-air message that called President Joe Biden a “wannabe dictator.”
Alex McCaskill, who had been with the network for 10 years and served as a producer for Tucker Carlson, confirmed his exit in an Instagram post Friday.
McCaskill attracted huge criticism after he wrote the line, “Wannabe Dictator Speaks At the White House After Having His Political Rival Arrested” and it appeared in the ending part of “Fox News Tonight” on Tuesday.
Who is Alex McCaskill?
Alex McCaskill was the former managing editor of “Tucker Carlson Tonight”. In a personal Instagram post, Alexander McCaskill announced his departure from Fox News. The “time has come” for him to go on, he said, adding that Fox News was “the best place” he has ever worked. According to McCaskill, Fox News eventually granted his request to have him fired after he made it known that he had done so. The post’s accompanying image showed McCaskill leaving Fox News’ New York headquarters with a box of his belongings.
McCaskill in the post wrote, “Today was my last day at FOX. It’s been a wild 10 years and it was the best place I’ve ever worked because of the great people I met. But the time has come. I asked them to let me go and they finally did.”
As per media reports, after the “Wannabe Dictator” incident, McCaskill resigned earlier and asked to serve two weeks, but the channel told him to clear the desk and leave with immediate effect.
Social media went into a frenzy as the on-screen chyron that referred to President Biden as a “wannabe dictator” appeared. Many viewers voiced their indignation and demanded that the network be sued, pressing President Biden to do so.
