Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that AVENGERS: THE KANG DYNASTY’ is now being referred to as ‘AVENGERS 5’.

Marvel Studios is navigating choppy waters as Avengers 5, formerly titled The Kang Dynasty, undergoes a major overhaul. The unexpected twist came on Monday when actor Jonathan Majors, set to play the pivotal role of Kang, was found guilty on charges of assault and harassment following a trial over domestic violence allegations. Marvel Studios swiftly confirmed Majors’ departure from the project, leaving fans in suspense about the fate of Avengers 5.

This decision was first revealed to Deadline by a studio rep on the afternoon of December 18th, shortly after Majors received his guilty verdict.

As for the fate of Majors’ character, Kang the Conqueror, and his role as both the main antagonist and connective tissue of Marvel Studios’ ‘Multiverse Saga’, Disney has yet to officially confirm their story plans following the actor’s firing.

In response to the actor’s dismissal, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the film’s title has also been dropped, with insiders now referring to it simply as Avengers 5 for the time being. This sudden shift raises questions about the studio’s commitment to the Kang storyline, though speculations persist that Kang might be recast or replaced by another formidable villain.

“I actually heard from someone recently – so, the screenwriter Jeff Loveness, who wrote [Ant-Man and the Wasp:] Quantumania was supposed to write Kang Dynasty, I had it confirmed to me that he is no longer working for Marvel,” Robinson told her co-host, Mallory Rubin, during the November 11th episode of The Ringer’s House of R podcast [Time Stamp: 2:52:10].
