Anwar Ibrahim says Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk has asked to meet next week to discuss further investments in Malaysia.
The PM adds that Malaysia needs more new investments to increase its income and reduce its debt which amounted to RM1.5 trillion.
According to MITI, Tesla would establish a head office in Malaysia to implement a “Supercharger” network with its battery electric vehicles.
Separately, Anwar says Japanese investors have agreed to invest an additional RM20 bil in Malaysia during their meeting last week. He adds that the Chinese investors are also committed to investing RM170 bil in Malaysia following his visit to China.
He further highlights that the Saudi Arabian oil company Aramco has agreed to increase their investments in Johor.
