Africa’s richest company, Naspers bought a 46.5% stake in Chinese company, Tencent for $32 million in 2001.
In 2018, they sold only 2% of their shares for $9.9 billion
They sold another 2% for $14.6 billion on April 7, 2021.
They still own 28.9%. Naspers owns 10% of Universal Music, 9.1% of Spotify, 5% of Tesla 0.8% of Warner Music, WeChat, KuGou, QQ Music, Kuwo, WeSing.
They owned DStv and GOtv before spinning them off in 2019.
They wrote off their 25.7% stake in Russia’s biggest internet company, VK Group in 2022. Naspers is the largest consumer internet company in Europe.
Naspers owns 60 newspapers, Multiply, OLX, Allegro, Buscapé, PayU, Movile, SimilarWeb, Avito, ShowMa, MWEB, Media24, Grupo Abril and shares in Mail. ru.
It is South African owned.
