“I don’t like people calling me Ariana Grande’s ex” – Ariana Grande’s ex, Pete Davidson.
Grande returned to SNL in 2016 as a host and musical guest. During her monologue, the Victorious alum performed a musical number featuring an appearance by Davidson.
“Hey, Ariana. I overheard. Do you like want to smoke some pot or something?” Davidson asked Grande as she wondered which scandal would take her career to the next level. “Pot? Let’s smoke some crack, man!” she said, to which he replied, “I’m good.”
News of their October 2018 split came a little over a month after Grande’s ex Mac Miller, whom she dated prior to Davidson, died of an accidental overdose. In 2020, the King of Staten Island actor admitted to Charlamagne tha God that he “pretty much knew it was around over” after Miller’s death. “I was like, ‘Listen, I get it, do whatever you’ve got to do, I’ll be here,’ ” Davidson recalled. “I think I said, ‘I’ll be here until you don’t want me to be here.’ “
I pretty much knew it was around over after that. That was really horrible, and I can’t imagine what that s**t is like.
“All I do know is that she really loved the s**t out of him, and she wasn’t putting on a show or anything.
“That was f****d up. Prayers to his family and all of his friends.” However, it wasn’t meant to be and the 28-year-old singer ended up telling the comedian ‘Thank U, Next’ after admitting in her Vogue interview that the romance was ‘unrealistic’.
The ‘Positions’ singer has now moved on from her ex-boyfriend and married her boyfriend after one year, Dalton Gomez.
However, during her relationship with Pete, who is now dating Kim Kardashian, Ariana immortalised their relationship with Sweetener track ‘Pete Davidson’ which says she ‘thought him into her life.’
In a candid Vogue interview Ariana gave in 2019, she called the relationship ‘unrealistic’.
She said: “I met Pete, and it was an amazing distraction.
“It was frivolous and fun and insane and highly unrealistic, and I loved him, and I didn’t know him.”
He has since criticised her choice of words, calling them ‘unfair’ and said where he once wasn’t going to do stand up material about their time together, he now sees it as ‘fair game’.
