Officials from Grand Canyon Law Enforcement claimed that a video of the event, in which a woman is seen smashing a golf ball against the rocky rim and then snapping the golf club in half, was captured and shared on TikTok. She throws the broken golf into the gorge a little while later. After watching the footage, authorities requested assistance from the public in identifying the woman but later claimed to have spoken with her about the incident. The woman in the video was identified as influencer Katie Sigmond.
“On October 27, Grand Canyon Law Enforcement identified, located, and contacted the individual responsible for the incident. To maintain the pristine nature of national parks, there are rules and regulations that prohibit littering—including golf balls. Anyone violating these rules could face fines or even imprisonment.”
