A teacher, school board candidate, &Christian ministry worker in WA has been charged with 11 felony child abuse charges. 




3 of the 4 children were black& she used racial slurs during the abuse. She’s facing charges of child rape & child sexual assault.


Meet Tana Perkins Reneau. It’s not immediately clear how Reneau and the children were connected, but a spokesperson for the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they were known to her. It’s also unclear when and where the crimes allegedly happened.



Reneau has six children, four of whom are adopted. She taught in Kennewick for 13 years before moving to Blaine in 2011.


The Kennewick native earned a master’s degree in teaching from Washington State University.


She was hired in 1998 by the Kennewick School District and taught 5th grade at Southgate Elementary and then at Eastgate Elementary, according to a district spokesperson.


It’s unclear if she ever taught in Blaine schools, but she served on multiple curriculum and technology adoption committees. The arrest came after Whatcom County detectives were assigned the investigation through the state Child Protective Services. Three female children ranging in age from 7 to 14 and one male child over the age of 10 known to Reneau came forward with allegations that she had been physically and sexually abusing them as punishment, documents state. “Horrific is a good word for it,” Whatcom County Superior Court Commissioner Jonathan Richardson said regarding the allegations during Reneau’s first appearance in court on Monday.
