A source close to Ethan Slater’s wife Lilly Jay tells Entertainment Tonight that she is “devastated” by the news of his relationship with Ariana Grande.
Slater married Jay, his former high school classmate, in 2018. The couple welcomed their first child, a son, last year. In November 2022, Slater shared an anniversary tribute to his wife on Instagram, writing, “My best friend. 4 years married, 10 years together. And this is easily the best (and most *bizarre*) year yet.” Grande liked the post.
On Monday, a source confirmed to ET that Grande and Dalton Gomez had separated after two years of marriage, noting that the pair — who tied the knot in May 2021, five months after announcing their engagement — “ultimately were just not a good fit.”
Then, just three days later, a source confirmed to ET that Grande and Slater are dating. Sources with direct knowledge tell us she and Ethan Slater — who plays Boq in the film adaption of the Broadway musical — recently started dating during production of the flick.
TMZ broke the story, Ariana and Dalton have yet to file divorce docs — though our sources say those are coming — but their relationship has been over since January. We’re told Ariana and Dalton remain friendly, and he’s been dating as well.
A rep for Slater has not returned multiple requests for comment.
Grande is set to play Glinda in Universal’s film adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical, while Slater, 31, will play Boq, the love interest of Elphaba’s sister Nessarose.
The movie began shooting in the U.K. last year and was scheduled for release in November 2024, though it remains unclear if the SAG-AFTRA strike will affect its premiere.
