A police officer of Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, voluntarily resigned from his post after getting caught drunk and riding his bike during a clampdown.
Kanagawa Prefectural Police office announced that the 47-year-old male sergeant was penalized on Dec. 23 for violating the Road Traffic Act by riding a motorcycle under the influence of alcohol.
He was suspended but he voluntarily resigned later in the day.
The sergeant reportedly told police, “I wanted to ride my bike because I had to leave (for work) early the next morning. I thought I would be OK as long as I wasn’t caught.”
