A motorcyclist and his pillion rider died after their motorcycle was hit by a car driven by a 16-year-old boy on the Penang Bridge this morning.
Police say the teenager, who does not possess a driving licence, sustained minor injuries in the 2:30am incident.
The student has been remanded for a day to assist investigations under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act.
Police say he had driven his mother’s car to visit his friends on the island.
The bodies of the victims, in their 20s, were sent to Seberang Jaya Hospital. The incident occurred when the Toyota Lexus was believed to have hit the back of a lorry, causing the car to lose control and hit the motorcycle.
The male motorcyclist and his female pillion rider died at the scene, while the lorry driver was unhurt, police add.
