A Michigan woman is accused of targeting two teens in a year-long catfishing scheme where she harassed them on social media.
Kendra Licari,42, was charged earlier this week with two counts of stalking a minor, two counts of using a computer to commit the crime and another count of obstruction of justice. According to FBI investigators, Licari targeted her daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend since last December and attempted to cover up her act by filing a complaint with the Beal City Schools‘ administration. Around that time, Licari worked as a girls‘ basketball coach at the school and at the end of the season, she was asked not to return due to coaching changes.
School district officials said the cyber bullying occurred off of school grounds and the school’s devices were not used. They decided to involve local authorities to look into the case as the harassment started in early 2021. Isabella County prosecutor David Barberi said the investigation was intense since Licari allegedly used slang to make it seem like the catfish was the same age as her daughter.
