A man, Jonathan Kassi, has been arrested in connection to a “sextortion” case linked to a 17-year-old boy’s, Ryan Last, suicide

A man has been arrested in connection to a “sextortion” case linked to a 17-year-old boy’s suicide. 

According to multiple reports, Jonathan Kassi, 25, was taken into custody last week and charged with extortion and attempted disorderly conduct.

Kassi is accused of posing as a teenage girl online and persuading another teen, Ryan Last, into sharing explicit photos of himself. Kassi and another teen threatened Last and demanded he send $5K or they would share the photos with his family.

Last committed suicide as a result of being harassed. His mother says while she’s happy an arrest was made, she would much rather have her son.

Investigators said Kassi was part of a larger West African ‘sextortion’ scheme, with at least 3,000 young victims this year.
