A 43-year-old Florida man was recently arrested after a child overdosed on fentanyl. Allegedly, the man wanted to see if the kid would pass a drug test. (Read More Here).
The man, Scott Honeycutt, now faces charges of aggravated child abuse and tampering with evidence. He has been released on a $12,500 bond.
It is reported that Honeycutt dialed 911 last month to request emergency services for a child that was overdosing in his house after taking an unknown narcotic. Upon arrival of Charlotte County Fire and EMS officials, Honeycutt claimed the victim needed Narcan — which is a medication administered to reverse the effects of opioids — and that he didn’t know which drug the child had consumed. EMS officials said the child appeared pale and lethargic.
Eventually, authorities discovered a cut straw and white powder in the victim’s room, which later tested positive for fentanyl. When first asked, the child said Honeycutt gave him the drug. But doing a second questioning, the child changed their story and said he’d taken the drug from Honeycutt’s workbag; but detectives never located the bag.
The Department of Children and families eventually learned that Honeycutt provided the juvenile with the drugs to see if he could pass a drug test. Police later found a bottle of fake urine in Honeycutt’s car, proving DCF’s report.
