Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Barcelona have opened a shop next to the Camp Nou to sell Camp Nou grass with prices from €20 to €420.
Fifty-seven one carat diamonds are set to be cut, with the price of one carat set to knock bidders back just over £12,000. The club are also predicting to net around £25million each year from the process.
It seems, diamonds may be forever at Barcelona!
But how will it work? Well, the Catalan giants will enter into a joint venture with the same company who turned Pele’s hair into the precious gems and will share the £25m profits with the organisation.
The Metro wrote in 2014 that the late footballing icon had strands of his hair turned into diamonds that were worth around £4,500 back then, utilising a high-pressure process to create the stones.
Barcelona will leave no stone unturned as they look to raise as much money as possible this summer.
The club’s burgeoning debt and struggles to fit into their salary limit in La Liga mean they have been looking to bring in as much money as possible, while tightening the belts across the club.
But while the developments already seem to be under way, according to Mundo Deportivo, the club is extraordinarily planning to use the grass from last season’s pitch to sustainably create the range of sparkling gems in a carbonisation process that will produce the authentic diamonds in just one week!!
Members will be given access to these products first, before it is opened out to other fans. Amongst the items that will be sold are the Camp Nou grass and seats are amongst the items that will be available.
The Blaugrana will start work on demolishing the third tier of the stadium before the renovations will begin next week, following their final home game of the season against Real Mallorca on Sunday. They will then move to the old Olympic Stadium, Estadi Lluis Companys, and look to return to the newly-built Camp Nou before the end of 2024.
