Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Liverpool robbed as VAR shows LUIS DIAZ was onside and not offside after disallowed goal.

There was a very brief VAR check which came to nought, but when screenshots of the point that the ball was played through were shared on social media, they showed that Diaz looked clearly onside thanks to Cristian Romero’s outstretched left leg.

The more you look at it, the more baffling it seems that the goal was disallowed. Another Premier League game dogged by inexplicable refereeing calls. But the assistant’s flag went up to chalk it off.

Replays, though, appeared to show Cristian Romero playing Diaz on.

However, after a brief stoppage, the goal was ruled out.

It is understood VAR looked at the goal but the green or red lines to prove whether or not Diaz was onside did not show on the screen. And that prompted a furious reaction from many watching Sky Sports at home – especially with the Reds – who were reduced to NINE men with Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota seeing red – eventually losing 2-1.

The Twitter account Has the Referee or VAR made a poor decision?said: “Yes, that should not have been a red card for Curtis Jones after his foot slipped over the ball.

“Slow-motion replays really mess up the entire perspective of this decision.

“Then they don’t even draw the lines for the Diaz goal they just ruled out for offside. Very dodgy behaviour.” Following Jones’ dismissal, the visitors thought they had fired themselves into the lead as Luis Diaz was released by Mohamed Salah before unleashing a fierce strike into the bottom corner of Guglielmo Vicario’s goal. However, the offside flag was raised, and the goal was ruled out.

While VAR was on hand to take a look at the incident, there were no lines shown to viewers watching the game on TV with the Colombian forward looking to be very close to the last Tottenham defender. Fans on social media were baffled at the lack of explanation for the call, which was swiftly moved past by VAR.
