Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that A Grogu statue has replaced Yoda at Lucasfilm Singapore.
This change truly comes as no surprise given how important Grogu is to the future of Star Wars. The story of Grogu and Din Djarin has quite literally transformed the galaxy and has shaped the future of the franchise, paving the way for all of its spin-off Disney+ TV shows that are now leading to the culmination events of Dave Filoni’s The Mandalorian-era movie. Given that Grogu is still so young, he has many years left to live in the galaxy, and that makes him one of Star Wars’ richest characters going forward.
According to industry scuttlebug, our original story article on the departure of the Master Yoda statue back in April 2021 partially inspired the Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) Singapore team to push for a replacement statue. After George Lucas took back his Master Yoda statue, the team wanted to restore the once iconic memento in some form as in the seven years when Master Yoda graced the location, Star Wars fans, along with Disney and Lucasfilm staff from all over the world would make regular “pilgrimages” to the building, to pay respects to the iconic Jedi Master Jedi, and take photos and selfies with it.
An iconic Star Wars statue of Yoda at Lucasfilm’s Singapore building has been replaced by a statue of The Mandalorian’s Grogu. It’s been almost four years since “Baby Yoda” took the galaxy by storm, quickly becoming a hero, a meme, and an adorable icon all at once. Ever since, Grogu’s story has blossomed beautifully in Star Wars, taking him from being a bounty of Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) to Mando’s adopted son and Mandalorian apprentice. He has certainly taken a much different path than the classic Jedi Master Yoda, and now, that’s been taken a step further.
Earlier this month, the newly sculpted bronze statue of Grogu was placed in the garden at the exact same spot, to the delight of staff and Star Wars fans, who started to head back to the location to take fresh photos of the unofficial new face of the Star Wars universe.
As a survivor of Order 66 and now a Mandalorian apprentice, Grogu is truly walking both worlds, similar to Sabine Wren in Ahsoka. He has a lot to offer for Star Wars in the future, especially as someone who could potentially unite the Jedi and the Mandalorians once and for all after a long, ancient history of wars between the two groups. His relationship with Din is the heartbeat of The Mandalorian and no doubt will continue to be for the remainder of the series’ duration, and with season 4 on the distant horizon, it’s likely that Grogu’s importance to the galaxy will only continue to grow.
You can also say that the Force is strong in us as when the iconic bronze statue of Master Yoda was removed from the building once owned by Lucasfilm and home to Lucasfilm Singapore (for now), we predicted that he could possibly be replaced with Grogu one day.
