A ‘HALLOWEEN’ cinematic universe is being envisioned to potentially launch over film and TV.

According to Deadline, Miramax won the “Halloween” TV rights in what was described as a “heated” bidding war. A24, the studio behind hits like “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” and Blumhouse, which produced director David Gordon Green’s recent blockbuster “Halloween” movie trilogy, were also said to be in the running. Financial terms were not disclosed but Miramax, which has long partnered with Trancas on the films, came out on top.

John Carpenter created quite a spectacle with the 1978 classic Halloween, which has since then never left the pop culture scenario. With many sequels, prequels, and reboots, it is a wide-ranging franchise featuring the masked killer Michael Myers, who is one of the most popular figures in the history of horror franchises. The film universe already consists of thirteen films. However, the film and franchise have not yet ventured into the cinematic universe culture, which may include a shared universe in film and television.

That being said, Miramax recently won a hard-fought battle to land Halloween for a television adaptation. Miramax beat A24 in the process, who were also trying to land the franchise for themselves. Though this will come as a disappointment to many A24 followers, Miramax is already plotting a cinematic universe spanning film and television.

No plot details have been revealed yet so anything at this point would be pure speculation. It is highly unlikely that the upcoming TV show, or anything in the potential cinematic universe, would pick up after the events of last year’s “Halloween Ends.” That movie, as the title implies, truly concluded that iteration of the franchise in a pretty definitive way. Jamie Lee Curtis has also been adamant that the film represented the end of the line for her as Laurie Strode. More than likely, we’re looking at some kind of reboot.
