Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Outrage as Cyprus YouTuber, Fidias, walked into a hotel in Kyoto, tricked an employee into thinking he was a paying guest, and ate a “free” buffet meal…
Fidias is a male YouTuber from Cyprus who is said to be living in the United States. As of the 24th, he has approximately 2.38 million subscribers, and he travels around the world doing various projects.
What is causing controversy is a video released on the 21st titled “I traveled all over Japan for free.” The winner will receive a prize of $10,000, and the challenge was to compete with three YouTubers to see how long they could stay in Japan without spending money.
Fidias, who didn’t have any bus fare, said, “I ask strangers for money,” and asked an ordinary person at the bus stop about his transportation expenses. Still, he was taken away by the police because the fraction was not enough.
Although Fidias spent about five hours with the police, he remained unrepentant and boarded the Shinkansen and declared that he would ride for free. He locked himself in the bathroom to escape ticket inspection while on board. Station staff, who were apparently aware that he was boarding the train for free, were waiting for him at the exit, but when asked to show him his ticket, Fidias claimed to be “sick” and crouched down on the spot. He then allegedly ran away, leaving the station staff chasing him.
Other participants also appeared to be using the same method to ride for free.
Fidias, who was traveling while talking to ordinary people and receiving transportation expenses, broke into a hotel and said, “Now, while I’m waiting for the bus, I’m going to try out the free breakfast.” He pretended to be a guest and entered the venue of a “5-star Japanese buffet,” and “didn’t get arrested and left the hotel without any trouble.”
