Players like MrMattyPlays have been experiencing a unique bug that turns Spider-Man into a small, white cube, which we’ve dubbed Spider-Cube. Not only is it funny but the community loves it because you can still hear the footsteps and voices and even fight and shoot webs.

Where does this bug come from? I’m not sure. But seeing a cube flying through the busy streets shooting webs is brilliant.

Spider-Man games are no strangers to bugs and glitches, with some turning the character into random objects. One user wrote, “i distinctly remember turning into an AC unit or a transformer or something. just one of those little building rooftop props” while playing Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The same user even went out on a limb to jest that the white cube in Spider-Man 2 isn’t a bug but has significant implications for the lore of the game. Other users also posted screenshots of glitched title screens showing Peter Parker and Miles Morales with floating heads and invisible bodies.

The user who posted the video confessed this was an unintentional result of an unlocked bug, saying, “i ran into this bug where almost all my suits turned invisible and made spider-man into a white cube HELPPPPP.” The bug did seem to remove Spider-Man from the gameplay, but it was also evident that the in-game physics of the character remained intact. The white cube landed and ran on rooftops with momentum and a sense of weight, and it also bobbed with web swings as it navigated the city’s buildings. Other users followed suit and posted confirmations, unlocking the same bug during their gameplay.

Spider-Man 2 players are having a field day on X (formerly Twitter) after one user posted a video showing the character stripped of his suit and replaced by a white cube that various people have likened to tofu or sugar. The gameplay capture starts with Miles Morales in his definitive black suit vaulting off a rooftop, but the perspective appears to shift into first-person as Spidey swings through the city and runs over the tops of buildings. This wouldn’t have been so odd if not for an ever-present white cube that seemingly serves as the character placeholder on the screen.
