Antony Starr on his #GenV cameo as Homelander

“That’s the face of a man going way too high into the sky and really wishes he said ‘stunt guy can do it’”

“Genuinely don’t know how the fuck I didn’t pee the suit. Or worse”

Homelander is presumed to be with his son Ryan. However, he could instead be facing a trial following his brutal murder of an innocent protestor during The Boys season 3.

In Gen V’s second episode, we see a few news snippets play out after episode 1’s shocking demise. One of those gave us a look at Victoria Neuman’s campaign, while the other showed Homelander alongside the caption, “Homelander on trial?”

While talking with The LA Times, Starr gave his thoughts on fans’ genuine support for Homelander. “There’s a very strange thing that’s happened with the character, though he is clearly not a good guy,” Starr said. He continued by saying that Homelander fits the worst-case scenario as Superman. “A lot of people have glommed onto him. There’s a weird element out there that actually kind of idolize him. I’ve seen some shit on Twitter and I’m like, ‘Wait, What? You are missing the point entirely!’ What if Superman were a narcissistic sociopath?” Starr added that showrunner Eric Kripke sees Homelander as Donald Trump. “I understand exactly what Eric means, and [Homelander murdering a protester before a crowd] was his ‘Fifth Avenue’ moment, 100%.”

At the time of writing, three episodes have been added on Prime Video and none of those include a physical appearance from Homelander. The series tells us a separate story focusing on a bunch of college-age Supes. So, it’s likely that a different trajectory will be taken throughout. However, we did get a nod at the big villain of The Boys which revealed what’s going on with him during the events of Gen V.

Much like Trump, Homelander will have to stand trial for his actions that could see him convicted after he brutally murdered that Starlight supporter without hesitation for throwing an object at his son. Despite his crime, the real consequence is that Homelander realized right then and there that he could kill whoever he pleased, and he would still have supporters that would worship him no matter what. He no longer has to hide who he is, making this situation go from bad to worse.
