A leaked Zoom call between Travis Scott and a heated John McEnroe shows the tennis star arguing over the name of their upcoming Travis Scott x Nike Mac Attack collab.
“God damn it, Travis.” Travis doesn’t like John’s idea because he thinks the name sounds like a burger.
Travis Scott and tennis legend John McEnroe appeared to have gotten into a rather heated argument while discussing their Nike sneakers collaboration.
The Sicko Mode rapper, 32 – who reportedly ‘owes over $100,000 in back taxes’ in the state of California – seemingly had a disagreement over the name of the shoe with the sports star, 64.
The incident occurred over an alleged Zoom call shared by Nice Kicks on X, formerly known as Twitter – although it is unknown when the meeting had actually taken place. It appeared that McEnroe preferred for the line to be called Cactus Mac rather than Scott’s proposal of Cactus Jack.
The performer then could be heard explaining his side on the matter, and stated, ‘Cactus Mac was never a thing…’
However, the tennis player wasn’t too thrilled, and interrupted with, ‘Come on, man! Show some respect! This is my shoe!’
While keeping his tone in a calm demeanor, Travis explained, ‘I’m not really like feelin’ it. It’s like something about it feels off…like selling burgers or something.’
He continued, ‘We ain’t trying to take none of that away from you. Ain’t trying to disrespect. I ain’t tying to do anything like that. Trust me. I know more about the value of the shoe than anybody else.’
‘But, right now, the young ranges really the ones kind of pushing me for what is going on right now. I mean, you got to trust me on this,’ Scott added.
The reel came to an end when John suddenly left the Zoom meeting while yelling out ‘Forget it!’
In the video, the fiery former tennis player did not hide his displeasure with the collaboration. McEnroe wanted the sneaker to be called the “Cactus Mac” instead of the “Cactus Jack,” which is the name of Scott’s brand. McEnroe told Scott to “show a little respect” and was not pleased when Scott politely declined his ideas.
Scott kept his cool while McEnroe appeared to end the video conference call. We do not know when this call took place or if any of the issues have been resolved. It is unlikely that this argument will impact the future of the sneaker collaboration. Stay locked into Men’s Journal Sneakers for all of your most important footwear news.
