Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Pere Guardiola is the Girona’s board president.




In the special shareholders’ meeting of Girona FC that took place today, Pere Guardiola has been appointed as Chairman of the Board of Directors and at the same time has welcomed Marcelo Claure as a new member. During the meeting is also been increased the number of directors, from four to six, and apart from the mentioned Pere Guardiola and Marcelo Claure, it’s also formed by Diego Gigliani as Vice Chairman, Andy Young, who stays as member, Simon Cliff passes from Secretary to member (his position as Secretary will be now held by Ricard Capdevila), and the last addition is Roger Solé, a new member of the board.


At this same meeting, Ignasi Mas-Bagà has left his duty as Chairman of the Board, which he had been developing for the last 5 years, and will continue his work as CEO of Girona FC. Borja López, who has been a member of the Board, also leaves his position on the Council.


As revealed by SPORT, he spoke about the positives in the Catalans’ campaign thus far and said: “I see Xavi’s team doing well. They have the league in their hands. I’m talking on a footballing level. I think the squad is very good, that a huge effort has been made. Winning the league is very important and I think it’s a very positive season for Barça.”


All La Liga teams stood agreed to participate in legal proceedings over the Negreira case as ‘accusers’ against Barcelona, and Girona was one of the clubs involved.


Guardiola spoke of the reason behind his going against the Blaugranas and labelled it a ‘group decision.’
