MatPat has become the face of YouTube game theories for the past thirteen years, creating a theory empire that has influenced gamers all around the world. Today he has announced that he will be stepping down with a heartfelt goodbye, shocking the internet.
MatPat is the host of the five YouTube Channels The Game Theorists, Film Theory, Food Theory, Style Theory, and GTLive. He is most famous for his Five Nights at Freddy‘s theories and his love of lore. He has become a staple in the YouTube lineup of hosts that everyone knows and quotes on the regular.
MatPat himself won’t be fully leaving The Game Theorists, but has stated that he’ll be taking up a position behind the scenes, leaving the hosting duties to the previously mentioned four team members. He’ll still be coming up with ideas for new videos, so he won’t fully disappear into the ether, but Game Theory fans will see a lot less of him in the future. He’ll also be working on other projects such as games, TV shows, and a host of other things. YouTube will never be the same.
He also explains that he’d like to leave The Game Theorists on a high note, and would rather not fade into obscurity like so many content creators of the past. He goes on to explain all the notable things he’s done these past few years and how much impact he’s had on other content creators, and decided that it’s the legacy he wants to leave behind
