Reaction Officers have established that four (2) men posing as Policemen arrived at the residence and made enquiries about a family member. One of the men was dressed in a jacket displaying the South African Police Service (SAPS) insignia.
The suspects produced firearms and assaulted a female after the family questioned their intentions. They asked the victims to remain silent before they accessed the bank account on the cellphone belonging to a 43 year old male amputee. They transferred R10 000 out of his account. The male received a payout two (2) months ago from the Road Accident Fund (RAF) for injuries he sustained in a collision. The robbers thereafter unplugged a TV, but abandoned it after they noticed several neighbours in their yards and pedestrians walking past the house.
They carried the male victim down the stairs in his wheelchair and forced his 42 year old wife to follow them. They loaded the victims into a white Suzuki Ertiga (registration unknown) and sped off in an unknown direction.
Reaction Officers are searching for the kidnapped couple.
