Negeri Sembilan has prohibited foreign workers from residing in residential areas.
The state is mandating their relocation to commercial zones or centralized living quarters (CLQs) by year-end.
Arul adds that this move would address issues arising from foreign workers living in residential areas, such as disturbances and cleanliness.
The state government reportedly also has plans to assist in the CLQ construction. Local government development, housing and transport committee chairman J Arul Kumar says the state also encourages construction or repurposing of buildings into CLQs.
These have to comply to specified conditions including fencing and constant monitoring.
