Bandits on Monday, July 5, kidnapped an unspecified number of students at Bethel Baptist High School in Damishi, Kaduna State. (Read More Here).
The bandits, who reportedly invaded the school at about 2:00 a.m., opened fire and overpowered security guards before escaping with the abducted students through an exit hole.
The spokesman for the police command in Kaduna, Mohammed Jalije, who confirmed the incident, said security agents had rescued 17 of the students.
He explained that the police had not ascertained the exact number of students abducted by the bandits, but the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna, John Hayab, said that there were 180 boarding students in the school as of Friday.
Dozens of distraught parents gathered at the school compound, in the early hours of Monday, one of the parents was captured praying at the exit hole broken by the bandits while escaping with the students.
