Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that South African presenter, Somizi Mhlongo, has been blocked from travelling to Zimbabwe by the Apostolic Church Council in Zimbabwe, because of his sexuality. (Read More Here).

According to information, Somizi Mhlongo, was invited as a guest for the reopening of Garwe Restaurant in Zimbabwe, which was supposed to be on November 4, 2021. After the invite, there were uproars in Zimbabwe.

Apostolic Church Council in Zimbabwe wrote a statement or letter to South Africa’s president’s office, informing its office that the coming of Somizi will affect the spiritual lives of the citizens and children in Zimbabwe.

The statement from Apostolic Church Council in Zimbabwe reads:

“Somizi is a homosexual, hence according to our people’s driven constitution, Zimbabwe doesn’t tolerate homosexuality. It is therefore our question, if we allow Somizi to come to our land, spiritually we would have disturbed a lot, and physically we would have openly accepted homosexuality in Zimbabwe hence affecting our children. This move will also affect our revolutionary party Zanu-PF by disturbing the 5 million votes win needed in the next 2023 harmonised elections for it is publicly known that our party strongly stands against homosexuality.”

Taking to his Instagram page, Somizi Mhlongo, reacted to the blocking letter from Apostolic Church Council in Zimbabwe. According to Somizi, he says his coming isn’t in any way going to affect the spiritual lives of the citizens in Zimbabwe.

He continued as he said that there isn’t any difference from a person who is xenophobic, racist and from a person who is homophobic. He said that they are all the same.

He says: “This is not the first time this has happened to me. I’m OK with it but I’m not OK with it at the same time.

“I will not stop speaking on behalf of the voiceless and on behalf of those who cannot speak for themselves. I will advocate for that and if it means I should die for it, so be it. But it sad, very sad and I hope things get better.

“What you are doing — being homophobic — is no different with anyone who is xenophobic and racist.”

Now, South Africans have rushed to social media to react. Alot of South Africans are angry at the fact that Somizi can’t travel to Zimbabwe because of his sexuality, but Zimbaweans can travel to South Africa illegally to be nuisances in their country.
