Kenya’s first Attorney General and The Duke of Kabeteshire, Charles Njonjo, has died at the age of 101. According to information, he died on Sunday, December 2, 2022. (Read More Here).
According to an accurate journalist, Osoro, Charles Njonjo, has been cremated shortly after his passing away. Osoro confirmed:
“Charles Njonjo has been cremated in Kariokor. He died this morning.
The poor would have assembled for 2 or 3 weeks burdening the bereaved with feeding them for the entire mourning season plus on the burial day. The rich do simplistic funeral services that saves them much.”
Taking to social media, Raila Odinga and Deputy President, William Ruto, have penned tributes to the late Charles Njonjo.
Raila Odinga wrote: “Mama Ida and I have received with shock and heavy hearts news of the passing of my long-time friend Charles Njonjo.
As a nation, we have lost a towering giant who served in key roles during his life.
Our legal fraternity greatly benefitted from his input and hard work.”
Williams Ruto wrote: “Charles Njonjo devoted his life in serving our country in pre-and post-independent Kenya as a civil servant, Attorney-General, Kikuyu MP and Constitutional Affairs Minister. He was knowledgeable, blunt and a dedicated advocate for the causes he believed in.”
Facts about Charles Njonjo:
Charles Njonjo registered GEMA under the instructions of Jomo Kenyatta in 1971. He came to haunt it when he made it treasonable to imagine the death of the president. GEMA leaders such as Njenga Karume wanted to change the constitution to stop Moi taking over if Kenyatta died.
