A top officer, Ian Cameron, has dropped the full details of the CIT robbery that took place in Rosettenville, Johannesburg, yesterday. (Read More Here).

“1/11 Rossetenville SAPS/CIT gang operation success report as received: Info was received of suspects planning a cash in transit heist in Johannesburg.
Suspects were gathering at a safe house in Friars Hill rd in The Hill, JHB, to finalise their heist plan.
“2/11 Info was given to the operational team. The team proceeded to the safe house, as the SAPS chopper was hovering over the house, suspects started shooting at the police chopper, the chopper then shot back at the suspects while waiting for the op team to arrive.
“3/11 Intelligence gathered was that amongst the suspects there was an ex SANDF soldier, a police officer from SAPS flying squad and a police officer from SAPS National Intervention Unit.
“4/11 A member in the SAPS chopper was wounded during the shootout with the suspects and flew to milpark hospital. When the chopper landed it had multiple bullet holes on it.
“5/11 The operational team arrived and took over and engaged the suspects who continued shooting at the police. The suspects started drove out of the in a silver BMW X3 and continued shooting at the police.
“6/11 The police returned fire and 3 suspects who were in the BMW X3 were fatally wounded, other suspects started jumping walls into the neighbouring houses were a shootout between police and suspects continued. 3 more suspects were fatally wounded.
“7/11 Back up arrived and a white police nissan NP300 which came to give backup came across suspects busy hijacking a white Nissan NP200, the suspects shot at the police wounding 2 SAPS members and 1 JMPD member. All 3 officers were in 1 vehicle when they were shot.
“8/11 Five suspects then jumped into the neighbours house and held the occupants of the house hostage, as the members penetrated the house shots were fired at the police and police. Returned fire wounding the suspects.
“9/11 A total of 10 suspects were arrested of which 2 were wounded and taken to hospital under police guard.
8 other suspects were fatally wounded during the shootout with the police. An ex military soldier was fatally wounded.
“10/11 Explosives, 7 automatic rifles. Over 300 Ammunitions, 6 hijacked vehicles, balaclavas, gloves.

8 suspects’ vehicles to be used in the Commission of a crime. Very sad news that one SAPS member that was wounded during yesterdays #Rosettenville gun fight has passed on. RIP.
“Bheki Cele trampled the scene in a publicity stunt after the #Rosettenville gun fight. No forensic protocol followed by many senior officers. These actions have the ability to destroy evidence and ruin the great work done but ground level cops.”
