Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi has committed to table evidence before Parliament on Thursday pertaining to Deputy President William Ruto’s alleged involvement in a number of land grabbing cases. (Read More Here).
Gedi, during a National Assembly session on Tuesday, claimed DP Ruto had dubiously obtained parcels of land in Trans Nzoia, Wajir, Taita Taveta and Nairobi counties.”In two days, I will give the evidence on how William Ruto has grabbed land in this country. I will get to the details on Thursday,” Fatuma Gedi said.
“It is in the public domain including court orders where one William Ruto grabbed land and I have no apology to make. Give me two days and I will bring the details,” Gedi told Speaker Justin Muturi.
Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa said that one family owned over 300 acres of land in Msambweni and another one owned almost half of the Shimba Hills in Kwale, adding that he did not implicate or name as Gedi did. “I mentioned that it is shocking for a single family to own such vast acres of land, but I did not mention anyone. honourable Gedi should provide evidence implicating Ruto and substantiate,” said Ichung’wa. Endebess MP Robert Pukose demanded that Gedi be forced to provide evidence or withdraw her statement implicating the DP to land grabbing.
The county woman defended her stance asking for a two-day period to present her evidence before the house. “I will provide the following, Taita Taveta, Langata Primary, Laikipia and the late Muteshi’s land (100 acres of land in Trans Nzoia),” she confirmed. Speaker Justin Muturi agreed to give Gedi up to Thursday, April 14 to present evidence to the claims. “Given the gravity of what you have said I will give you up to Thursday 14, at 2:30 pm to provide the material and evidence of the grabbing claims,” said Muturi
