Music star Makhazi believes she was being targeted when two gunmen robbed her before shooting at her outside a venue where she was billed to perform on Saturday night. (Read More Here).
Makhazi, who was scheduled to perform at Ga-Rankuwa Shisanyama in Tshwane, was standing outside her car when two men armed with a gun approached her. According to co-owner of Open Mic Records, Lionel Jamela, the two men pointed a gun at her and took her cellphone.
The Matorokisi hitmaker has allegedly survived a targeted shooting in Tshwane.
According to the SowetanLive Makhadzi was robbed by two gunmen who then started shooting at her outside the venue she was paid to perform on Saturday, 14th May 2022.
It is also said that upon being scheduled to perform at the Ga-Rankuwa Shisanyama in Tshwane, Makhadzi was waiting outside her car when two armed men approached her.
The singer was robbed of her cellphone at gun point and a gun was fired in her direction after fleeing from the incident.
The motive of this tragic incident is unknown, however according to Lionel Jamela, the owner of Open Mic Records, Makhadzi thought that she was being targeted.
Despite this, Makhadzi managed to escape the incident unharmed.
In a statement Open Mic Records noted that upon being escorted out of Garunkuwa, Makhadzi along with Lionel and a dancer noticed that a car was following them.
“Upon leaving the venue we (Makhadzi, dancer and Lionel) noticed a car following us, we went to the nearest police station. We opened a case at Ga-Rankuwa police station. Police even escorted us out of Ga-Rankuwa”, the statement read.
The company said they are happy that she is well. “As the company we are shocked by this incident that someone would want to harm one of the country’s superstars. We are happy that she is safe and the dancers.”
Makhadzi is reeling from the incident, and she and her dancers were taken for counseling yesterday. Fans have reacted to the shocking incident and they want the perpetrators to be nabbed and face the consequences of their actions.
Others are worried about Makhadzi’s well-being, but it seems she is doing well as she performed at Konka on Sunday night.
Makhadzi has been booked and busy lately as usual. She recently launched her first skin product. Taking to her Instagram account she said: “A wee..! Let me introduce you to MAVODA the product by myself Makhadzi. I have been working on this one for years now. So many sleepless nights perfecting it for everyone. For both Male and Female skins.”
