‘Three people are shot dead and four are injured – including a state trooper’ – after shooting at Maryland manufacturing factory. 

The shooting took place inside a Columbia Machine Shop, an engineer manufacturing factory located on Bikle Road.

Governor Larry Hogan confirmed that three people had been killed at the industrial site, where concrete products and molds are made

The Washington County sheriff’s office said there are ‘multiple fatalities’ at the factory, which is around 70 miles from Baltimore and 70 miles from Washington

Authorities said that a Maryland state trooper suffered a minor injury after a confrontation with the shooter, but have not confirmed the gunman’s condition 

Congressman David Trone, a Democrat who represents the area, said a ‘mass shooting’ took place in Smithsburg and asked locals to stay away from the scene

A mass shooting is technically when four or more people are killed by a gunman.
