Emine Doster and Ayşe Dursun, who came from Diyarbakır to visit the monastery, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List, visited by thousands of local and foreign tourists, one of the important historical, touristic and religious sites of Turkey, broke away from the slope while walking on the steep terrain where pedestrian access is provided. 




He was injured by the stones hitting him. The injured were carried to the road on a stretcher after the first intervention of the health officials who came to the region with a notice. The injured, who were taken to the hospital by ambulance, were treated.


Sümela Monastery, which was built by carving the rocks in the forest at an altitude of about 300 meters, is also known as ‘Virgin Mary’ among the people. There are various rumors about it, and according to scientific data, the historical monastery, which dates back to the 13th century, has a total of 72 rooms, apart from the service units, guesthouse, kitchen and holy spring.
