Alana Thompson, aka Honey Boo Boo, is doubling down on the haters who don’t approve of her relationship with her 21-year-old boyfriend, Dralin.

Alana and Dralin have been together a little over a year. Since they first announced their relationship on Instagram, people have raised concerns about the huge age gap between the two. Alan is 16 and Dralin is 21, which is a 5 year gap. Alana says that even though people on the internet see a problem with it, their families both approve of their relationship despite their age and race difference.

“In our relationship, the two most things that everybody is always talking about is our age gap and definitely because he’s Black and I’m white and we’re an interracial couple,” Alana says. “I don’t care because, like, at the end of the day, my sister approves, his mom approves, and we’re happy, so what fans got to say or what haters got to say I don’t really care.”

Alana’s sister and guardian, Lauryn aka Pumpkin, chimed into the conversation in support of the relationship. She says that even though they have an age difference, the two are on each other’s level mentally. Due to Alana growing up in the spotlight, she has matured faster than others, which Pumpkin says, makes the relationship okay.

“She’s not getting married, she’s not having a kid, she’s doing very good in school,” says Pumpkin, who went on to note that coming of age in the spotlight has made Alana more mature, and that despite Dralin being older, she believes he and Alana are “on the same wavelength.”

The legal age of consistent in Georgia is 16, so the couple isn’t breaking any laws. Alana will turn 17 at the end of August, the same time she and Dralin are scheduled to have weight-loss surgery together.
